Bee Sim founder, affectionately known as “Ah Hee” started as an apprentice under a Dim Sum chef. After learning the ropes for 5 years, he mastered the skill of handmade Pau and also understood the dough chemistry that is the key ingredient of every Pau. In year 1978, he gathered all his savings to put together the company, Bee Sim Snack Supplier.

With the help of family and friends, Ah Hee made up to 500 Paus per day from his home kitchen in a kampong along Khim Chuan Road. He made Paus fresh daily by hand and delivered them through the day on his motorcycle.

As demand for Ah Hee’s Pau increased, more workers were needed and it became evident that a larger commercial space was necessary. In 1980, Bee Sim Pau secured a food production facility in Geylang. Despite the high daily demand, the Paus were still handmade by about a dozen of workers.

With daily orders in the thousands, making Pau by hand came at a cost – long work hours and tired employees. The manual process could not match the consistency and efficiency of modern machineries. Ah Hee had to make the decision to steer the company towards mechanising. Repetitive tasks are automated while critical stages of production are still closely monitored by Ah Hee. He ensured that the traditional flavour of our Paus and Dim Sum was not lost in this transition to automation.

With decades of production experience and industry knowledge, our workforce is well-trained in culinary skills and food hygiene practices. Driven by our passion for great tasting Pau, we constantly improve our recipes to excite our consumers. We are extremely proud to be a long standing local brand in today’s highly competitive and evolving food industry.
